Looking Forward To 2050
In 2019, West Midlands Rail Executive and Worcestershire County Council each published a rail investment strategy, detailing their vision of rail services in 2050. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 crisis moved the goal posts so both authorities have recently published updated versions of the strategies. The two documents have been produced with collaboration between the two authorities.
By 2026 | Reinstatement of six trains per hour between Stourbridge Junction and Birmingham Snow Hill |
| By 2029 | Introduction of an hourly through service between Kidderminster and London Paddington via Worcester and Oxford |
| 2029-2034 | Extension of the Kidderminster to London Paddington service to/from Stourbridge Junction |
| 2029-2034 | Extra terminal platform at Rowley to allow eight trains per hour to/from Birmingham |
| 2029-2034 | Snow Hill lines from Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon to Worcester electrified |
